All in black and white, a bit dark to the point were it is gloomy
What social or cultural issue, or historical event does the photo shed light on?
The ice caps melting, and harming the animals living there due to global warming

That people put the blame of the melting on something else when really it is us doing the damage.

photo analysis
Artist - Cornelia Parker
Title - "Hanging Fire (Suspected Arson)
Created - 1999
Made out of - Charcoal, wire, pins, nails
Dimensions - 144 × 60 × 72 inches (365.8 × 152.4 × 182.9 cm)
Setting - ICA Boston museum
Type - Additive
Subject matter - Hanging charred fire wood in various shapes and sizes. Bigger sized pieces are near the bottom. The whole thing creates a perfect rectangle.
Analysis:
The color of the whole thing is completely black, there is no resemblance of the wood being wood. The jagged pieces of charcoal start of small, but then get bigger and bigger from top to bottom. All together they create a perfectly formed large rectangle. There is plenty of negative space at the top, but as it goes down, there is less, and less negative space.
It's all unified together because all of it as a whole is the same type of material, along with the randomly shaped parts which create variety. The movement of it all looks like it is falling down from the ceiling in the shape of a rectangle, even though it is just hanging down.
